Ed worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Oakland, CA for 40 years. He started out as a brakeman and became a conductor on the Red Train electric trains. Ed was considered a Spanish-American War veteran but actually fought in the Philippines from 1902-1905 against the Moro (Muslim) Insurrection (1902-1913) which came after the Spanish American War (1898) and Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902). He was assigned to the 18th Battery, US Field Artillery until discharged in Jolo, Jolo, PI. Ed married Anna Michelson and raised two children, Vernon and Marian, in Oakland, CA.
His Obit reads:
WOSNAK Edward In Castro Valley July 9 1966 beloved husband of Martha Wosnak of Oakland father of Vernon Wosnak of Tiburon and Marian Jorgensen of Oakland Also survived by seven grandchildren A native of Illinois A member of Liscom Camp No 7 Spanish American War Veterans Fruitvale Lodge No 336 F of Oakland and Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Friends are invited to attend services at the East Oakland Chapel of GRANT MILLER MORTUARIES 2372 East 14th Street Oakland Monday July 11 al 12 noon Services to be concluded at the Mortuary Chapel
