Zenas H. Beers Dies; Funeral Set Tuesday
Zenas H. Beers, a life-longresident of the Doniphan community and a veteran of World War 1, died Thursday evening in a local hospital. He had been critically ill only a short while before his death.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Methodist Church of Doniphan. The Rev. Donald Rollstin and the Rev. Otto Quaife will officiate. Interment will be in Cedarview Cemetery at Doniphan. Arrangements for the services are in charge of the Livingston Sondermann Funeral Home. There will be no visitations.
Mr. Beers was born March 9, 1897, on the farm near Doniphan to Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Beers. Following the completion of his schooling at Doniphan, he came to Grand Island and was a student at the Grand Island Business College. He enlisted in teh United States Army during World War I and served until he was honorably discharged at the end of the conflict. He returned to Doniphan and began farming at that time.
He and Miss Grace E. Woodman were married Oct. 12, 1921, at Grand Island. They began their home on the farm and remained there until 1934, when they moved into Doniphan. Mr. Beers was employed in the freight business for a period before becoming an employee of the Hall County Weed Control District.
For the last 24 years, he had operated his own firm doing weed control and fertilizing work. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Doniphan. He was affiliated with the Grand Island Barracks of the Veterans of World War I and with Grnad Island Post No. 53 of the American Legion.
He is survived by his widow; one brother, Alfred Beers of Napa, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Jake Lebsack of Healdsburg, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents.
