MARINETTE MATRON DIES AT AGE 81
Mrs. Alma A. Behnke, 81, of 1344 Oakes St., died Monday afternoon at Marinette General Hospital. The former Alma Salewsky was born here Nov. 11, 1887. She was married to Joseph Behnke in 1923 in Menominee. He died in 1973. The couple lived in this area all their lives. Mrs. Behnke was a member of the Woman of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Donna tomek of Des Plaines, Ill, Mrs. Joyce Mack of Marinette and Mrs. Alice (Peck) Taguary of Dallas Texas; a son, Francis of Green Bay; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Kiernan of Green Bay and Mrs. Ebb Hall of La Cresenta, Calif., and 10 grandchildren. (One son, Donald and )Three brothers and three sisters died previously. Friends my call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Zeitler-Johnson Funeral Home. A parish wake service will be held there at 7 p.m. and a Woman's Relief Corps service at 7:30 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday. Deacon William Hoffman of St. Joseph's Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
(note: Alma's first husband was Howard Peck who died July 24, 1919. They were married Jan. 27, 1917 and had one daughter, Alice)
