Phil Fortin and Sonya Schaefer were nineteen when they married on December 22, 1957 in Hernando, Desoto County, Mississippi.

They were living at 5538 Old Rural Hall Road, Winston Salem, North Carolina when their son was born in 1959.

Memphis Tennessee City Directory 1960 verified Phillip R. Fortin was a mechanic for Kittle Pontiac. He and wife, Sonya lived at 255 Scott Apt 1.

Deborah Kay Fortin (b.1961)

Phillip R. Fortin and Sonya divorced on August 25, 1969 in Forsyth County, North Carolina.

George Cram and Sonya married sometime after his wife died in 1976.

George died in 1984.

Sonya suffered with cancer for a few years.

Death record revealed Sonya Mae Cram was a widow. She was born on August 2, 1938 in Virginia and her father's last name was Schaefer. She died at home with a physician on September 30, 1991 in Winston Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina.

{{CRAM - Mrs. Sunnie Schaefer Cram, 53 of 5538 Old Rural Hall Road, Winston-Salem died at her home Monday afternoon. Mrs Cram was born on August 2, 1938 in Radford, Virginia to Guy E. and Latta M. Overhall Schaefer. She moved to Winston-Salem in 1960, was a member of the first Baptist Church, and was with Piedmont Airlines for 27 years. Mrs. Cram was a member of the Walkertown Lions Club, the TROA, the MOWW, the PWP, the Piedmont Airlines Bowling League, and was Chair-Person of the Piedmont Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Needy.

Funeral services will be held at Voglers Reynolda Road Chapel 11 a.m. Thursday by Dr. Randall Lolley with interment to follow at the Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.

Survivors include one daughter, Debra Fortin of the home; one son and his wife, Guy and Marie Fortin of Winston-Salem; her mother, Latta M. Schaefer of Sardis, Miss; a sister and her husband, Ina Kay and Johnnie Perkins also of Sardis, Miss; three nieces, Regina Arnold, Kim Morrow, and Sherrie Perkins and one nephew, Justin Perkins; one great niece, April Morrow and one great nephew, Jonathan Alfred.}}

{{Sonya Mae Cram - Funeral services for Sonya Mae Cram will be held Friday, October 4, in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Mrs. Cram died Monday, September 30, 1991, at her home in Winston-Salem, N.C. after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of the late Col. George D. Cram and the daughter of Mrs.Latt Overall Schaefer of Sardis, Ms and the late Guy E. Schaefer.

Survivors other than her mother are a son, Guy Fortin and a daughter, Debbie Kay Fortin of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a sister Mrs. Johnny Perkins of Sardis, Ms.}}

Sunnie lived to age 53.

Below is the census when Guy was six years old and living with his parents, William and Dora Schaefer.

The 1900 census revealed William was in the beef business. they were living in Baltimore Ward 19, Baltimore City, Maryland. William was born in August 1840 and Dora was born in June 1841. William and his parents were born in Germany and Dora and her parents were born in Maryland. William immigrated in 1880 and was naturalized. They had been married ten years, had two children and two were still living. Household members: William (59), Dora (58), Guy (6), Mary (4) and boarder, John Hover (53).

Guy Schaefer and Latta married about 1937.

The 1940 census revealed Guy made wages in private work as a wholesale manager and his income for the year was $2000. They rented their home on Rhodes Street in Arlington, Virginia for $56.25 per month. They both had a high school education. They lived in D.C. in 1935. Guy was born in Maryland, Latta was born in Tennessee and their daughters were born in D.C. Household members: Guy E. (46), Latta M. (35), Sonya May (1) and Ina Kay (2/12).

The Social Security Death Index (S.S.D.I.) revealed the card was issued in 1952 in District of Columbia. Guy Schaefer was born on February 14, 1894 and died in March 1968. His last residence was 27101 Winston Salem, Forsyth, North Carolina.

Guy lived to age 74.

The U.S. Phone Directory revealed Latta M. Schaefer had resided at 220 Dewberry St. Sardis, Mississippi in 1993, 1994 and 1995.

The Social Security Death Index (S.S.D.I.) revealed the card was issued before 1951 in District of Columbia. Latta M. Schaefer was born on July 8, 1904 and died in Dec 1995. Her last residence was 27105 Winston Salem, Forsyth, North Carolina.

Latta lived to age 91.
