Birth: unknown
Death: Jan. 23

James Cockett was born in 1853 in Texas and as a young man he came to Indian Territory (now the State of Oklahoma) and established a ranch. In 1875, he married Lousina Jane Harkins Thompson, a beautiful young Choctaw woman who had become widowed six months earlier at the age of 23 years of age. She had two sons at the time and the Crocketts soon welcomed Georgia Ora Crockett into the world, only to see James die at the age of 23 on 23 April 1876. Lousina buried James next to her first husband in the Teller Cemetery. The Tombstones of both men began with the phase "In Memory of My Dear Husband". Nine months later Lousina married her third husband, who as a young man had sworn that she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen and that some day he marry her.
