Age 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Plymouth. The longtime pastor of the Minneapolis Laestadian Lutheran Church (in Plymouth) was born in Menahga. Elmer grew up and lived in the Menahga area until he left to serve his country in WW II. After the war, he lived in Minneapolis and Plymouth. Elmer was predeceased in 2006 by his wife of 55 years, Elsie (Nelson, Hoikka); son Leland Hoikka; and sister Lyyli Alajoki.
