Watson-Harold G. Watson, 83, a longtime resident of Merced, CA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 1, 2007, after a long illness with family by his side.

Harold is survived by his wife of 61 years, LuVada Watson, and 6 children: John and Eva Watson of Camp Verde, AZ; Jerald (Jerry) and Enedia Watson of Merced; Linda and Don Benson of Merced; Harold (Whitie) and Debi Watson of Chowchilla; Walter Lee and JoBeth Watson of Rio Rancho, NM; Tammy and Kenny Flaming of Covington, LA. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 9 surviving brothers and sisters.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents John and Vera Watson of Sulphur, OK. Harold was an Army veteran of WWII where he served in the African and European Theatres of War. At the end of WWII Harold returned to the family dairy in Sulphur, OK.

Harold went to work for Boeing Aircraft Company in 1953 and moved his family to Seattle, WA and then to Merced in 1956. He worked as a structural engineer until his retirement from Boeing in 1971. Harold started a family dairy in 1959 and in 1965 moved it to the south side of Merced where the dairy grew; in 1977 he sold the dairy and semi-retired.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, brother and friend. His humor and strong presence will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 6, 2007, at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home with Military honors by American Legion Post 83.
