Mary Ella, 89, passed away on March 17, 2014 in Brandon, Florida.

She was the daughter of Winnie Freeman of Fitzgerald, Ga and Harold Jaco, Sr. of Jackson, Tn. She was very active in First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the adult choir for many years. She and her late husband Vic founded the Bernhardt Singers, a group of local area residents which have been singing in area nursing homes and various community events for over 30 years.

She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Carlos (Manya)of Brandon, FL,Vicki Rosenthal(Dave)of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Laren Farington of Jacksonville, FL. Four granddaughters, four great-granddaughters, three grandsons; and one brother, Rev. Harold Jaco, Jr. of Jackson, TN.

Services were held March 22 at First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald with Dr. Mike Ruffin, Rev Tom Braziel & Rev Harold Jaco, Jr. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Arrangements Entrusted to Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, GA.Mary Jaco Bernhardt, native and long-time Fitzgerald resident, left this earth for her heavenly home at 11:33 PM on Monday, March 17, 2014 in Tampa, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, March 22nd at First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald with the Rev. Dr. Mike Ruffin officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
