Irene grew up and attended school in the Buckhart Community. She was united in marriage to Ed Riley on December 5, 1950 in Hardy, Arkansas. Two children were born to this union. They moved to Rockford, Illinois where they made their home for thirty years. They moved back to the Mtn. Grove, Missouri area in 1980. Mr. Riley passed away on October 3, 1981.
Irene was employed as a secretary for an insurance office in Mansfield, MO for several years. She enjoyed watching westerns, reading, square dancing, and tending to her yard and flower gardens.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Frank Sympson, Guy Sympson, and Glen Sympson.
She is survived by her son: Scott Andrew Riley of Marion, Indiana; her daughter: Glenna Leckenby of Mansfield, Missouri; three brothers: Gene Sympson of Fort Worth, Texas, Junior Sympson of Bucyrus, Missouri and Clyde Sympson of South Beloit, Illinois; three sisters: Wilma Carty of Mtn. Grove; Ella Fullington of Blue Eye, Arkansas, and Connie Hendrickson of San Jose, California; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.
