|Birth: ||Sep. 27, 1827|
St. Landry Parish
|Death: ||Nov. 6, 1907|
There is no headstone. Leonize was living at her daughter, Marie Louise Eves, home in New Iberia when she died.
I have seen her first name spelled Leonise and Leonize along with several variations of her maiden name.
From Father Heberts books:
COURVELLE, Leonise (Antoine COURVEL & Adelaide LAFOSSE) b. 27 Feb. 1827, bt. 23 Oct. 1827 Spons: Pierre COURVEL [COURVELLE] & Eloise RYON. Fr. Flavius Henri ROSSI (Opel. Ch.: v.3, p.11)
married by Justice of the Peace
The applications were an unexpected source of valuable, interesting information. John Francis and Leonise had been married in June of 1840 by Judge B. DeBALLION at Lake Charles.
Since the courthouse there was destroyed by a fire in 1910, all the records had been lost. The petition also provided the date and place of John Francis's death: the 23rd of October, 1873, in Washington, Louisiana.
