The four youngest children--including Martha R. Ellis--were born in Tennessee.
Their farm is not far from Joseph McLane's place. He is a shoemaker who is "lame" from the fever. There are 4 children in his household: William, James Thomas, George, and Joseph--all born in Missouri. James Thomas McLane and Martha R Ellis were married on April 4th, 1869 in Stoddard County. Some of the family moved south into Dunklin County, MO, and farmed near White Oak, MO, and later near Caruth and Hornersville, MO, There are still descendants of James and Martha McClain in the Kennett, MO, area.
