Jerry Joseph Brooksher, 39, passed away at his residence, Wednesday, March 20, 2013.

He was born October 16, 1973 at Pittsburg, to his birth father, Jerry Powell and mother, Melinda Swope. Jerry was raised by his parents, Richard and Melinda Brooksher.

He attended local schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1992.

Following high school, Jerry worked as a carrier for the United States Postal Service.

He was a Fourth Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate. He was also a Si-Fu (or teacher) for several years.

Jerry was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed playing tournament pool.

He was a very talented artist.

He loved his children and family.

Jerry is survived by a son, Kaleb Brooksher of Weir, KS; two daughters, Melinda Kay Brooksher of Franklin, KS and Amanda Mitchell of Weir, KS; his parents, Richard and Melinda Brooksher of Pittsburg; three brothers, James Brooksher, Matthew Brooksher and Chris Brooksher, all of Pittsburg; a sister, Tammy Jones of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Frank and Norma Swope and his paternal grandparents, Delbert and Lorene Brooksher.
