Melba Lee Agee passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 6, 2013. She was born in Wellington, Kansas, the second of three children of Roy B. Adams and Sylvia Maud (Leith) Adams. She grew up in Wellington and graduated from Wellington H.S. After graduation she moved to Wichita to work for Boeing and The Coleman Company.

After WWII, Melba married U.S. Navy veteran John E. Agee on March 8, 1946 and had three children.

She developed many long lasting friendships with people she worked with while at The Coleman Company and later at Learjet. Melba achieved a huge milestone late in her life when she received her undergraduate degree in English from Wichita State University. She also loved to travel and experience new cultures which took her to Asia, Europe, Australia and Fuji.

Melba was a lifetime and active member of Delta Theta Chi sorority. She enjoyed many close friendships, educational programs and experiences that were made possible through her association with this very close knit group of women.

Melba is survived by her sister, her three children. Melba has 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A private memorial will be held in Wichita following cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests that individuals make contributions to the National Center for Family Literacy, 325 W. Main Street, Suite 300, Louisville, KY, 40202 or a literacy program in your state or region
