Betty married Dean Hoffman on April 29, 1950, in Vienna. They farmed until 1957, when Dean went to work at the Vienna Grain Elevator. Betty started working for the Citizens State Bank in Vienna in 1960 and continued to work for the bank in Vienna and Willow Lake until the couple moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota in 1983.
Betty deeply loved her family, was committed to her faith, and never tired of setting Dean straight about politics. Everywhere she lived, Betty took an active role in her church, participating in many Bible studies and serving in the WELCA.
Throughout her life, Betty was known for her shopping prowess and her cooking/baking abilities, as well as a special knack for interior decorating and design. She also enjoyed attending local sporting events with Dean. She was best known, however, for her nurturing of family, and as a care-giver for Dean during his struggle with cancer.
She is survived by her daughter Candice (Les) Cummings of Sioux Falls; and son Randy (Cindy) Hoffman of Madison. Betty had five grandchildren, Nichoelle (Colin) Waldner; Nicholas (Brianna) Cummings; and Brett (friend Annie), Megan (fiancée Ben), and Nathan Hoffman. She also had four great-grandchildren, Maizelyn, Abram, Colin Isaac, and Edgar Dean. She is also survived by her siblings Robert (Marilyn) Jensen, Jeanette (Roger) Chapin, Lavonne (Jerry) Heathershaw, and Charlene (Jim) Tregasar. She was preceded in death by her husband Dean, and parents Louis and Mary (Dede) Jensen.
