2nd Lieutenant M. GIROD, of the 3rd Cheshire Regiment,
who lost his life on March 19th 1916 (aged 23),
was educated at Seaford College, Sussex, and in Switzerland.
He was transferred to the R.F.C. on September 13th, 1914.
He obtained his first wing, and was piloting for his second when his machine came to grief. The plane crash landed on return, as they tried to "slip-slide" the plane on a short runway. The pilot was injured, but Milton was dead on the scene. He was a keen air observer for the 17th squadron.
He was the son of Mr. Ernest Girod, for 30 years consulting engineer to the Linotype Company.
