D.L., the name most folks knew him by, lived a full varied life of integrity, love of God and love of his fellow man. It's difficult to pinpoint his favorite passion as his interests encompassed a wide array of activities. Sunday mornings would find D.L. holding court with several folks immersed in the study of the Holy Bible. That afternoon, he would be seen traversing the dirt roads of Tilly, driving a horse drawn buggy, usually with children aboard as well. The go-to-guy for almost anything mechanical, it was not unusual to find D.L. helping someone get their tractor or baler running again. By the same token, he was involved in almost every building project or remodel job in or around Tilly. He also had a passion for the Union Hill Cemetery and the Decoration Day there. He prided himself on keeping the grounds mowed and trimmed. Later in his day would find him patting his feet to bluegrass music in anticipation of stepping out to dance. D.L. could cut a rug with the best of them and thoroughly enjoyed all kinds of dance.
His parents; one son, Brett Matthew Warren; one sister, Mary Sue Houghton; two infant siblings; and brother-in-law, Danny Earl Davis, precede him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Arlis (Small) Warren of the home; one son, Travis Warren and wife Cassie of Farmington; two daughters, Carla Baker and husband Michael of Marshall and Christina Merle and husband Dirk of Tilly; six grandchildren, Brett Baker, Andrew Baker, William Warren, Coleman Warren, Catherine Warren and Joseph Warren; one sister, Daveline Davis of Pottsville; two brothers, Tommy Warren and wife Betty of Little Rock and Sam Warren and wife Connie of Tilly; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other family members who will also mourn his passing.
