Born in Bologna, Italy, Catherine was brought to the US as a teenage bride. She was married to, or a partner of, Alejandro Toneli, Clemente Serefeni, Joseph Passie, and William Cambridge. Her children often took the name of the new husband/partner.
She lived in Bernalillo County New Mexico until about 1900, when she moved to British Columbia, Canada and worked as a cook for the Canadian Pacific Railway. She and most of her children returned to the states in the early 1920's, settling first in Eureka, California. She and her daughters Teresa Passie D'Andrea and Edna Serefeni Massey and their families lived in San Bruno by 1931.
