David Michael Allen, 61 years young, passed away suddenly early March 17, 2013 with his family by his side in Anchorage, Alaska.

He was born on Nov. 22, 1951 in Townsend, third son to Emma and Robert Allen.

There was nothing he couldn't do; not a "jack" but a master of all trades. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman. His love for everything outdoors has been proudly passed to the next generation of Allen's. His children, Jesse, Jeremy and Jana, have numerous fond memories of time spent camping, hunting, fishing and being outdoors.

In addition to his children, Dave was blessed with three grandchildren: Jacob, Penelope and Isla. He loved being a grandpa and times spent with them were some of his very best times.

His propensity to poke at campfires, his delight in a stellar sunrise with a cup of coffee, his ability to search for hours on end for the perfect artifact, his pun-filled and witty sense of humor, and his great story telling ability will be etched in our hearts and memories.

In his early years, Dave lived in Montana long with most of the members of the Allen family. Montana is also where he started his family with his wife of 25 years, Cindy Allen. The adventurous spirit of the Allen family took them from Montana to California to Texas and back again, culminating on the last frontier in Alaska. On Kodiak Island is where Dave honed his impressive skills of outdoor photography and fishing. In Kodiak, Dave acquired an extended family with the Kodiak Police Department where he served as a corrections officer – a job he was most proud of. He forged true friendships through this association.

Dave was a light in the lives of those he touched, as relayed by his Kodiak Police Department family and many other close friends and family in Alaska and Montana. Surrounded by good, true friends and the unique natural beauty of Kodiak Island, his last years were framed by all the things he loved.

He will be missed by so many in so many places – fair wind and following seas.
