Bettye Dean Dunn Guffey, 74, passed away April 29 in Vernal, Utah. Bettye was born in Tuckerman, Arkansas in 1937 to Gerti and E.B. Dunn and married Albert Guffey August 13, 1955.
She is survived by Her Children: Jana Warby (Ralph), Ron Guffey (Jane) and Rick Guffey (Julie); Grandchildren: Kara, Jennie, Ashley and R.C. Warby, Jolay and Markelle Guffey, Daniel and David Guffey; Great-grandchildren: Wyatt Warby, Nevaeh Birchell, Lilly Pearson and Alexander Guffey; Older brother, Charles Dunn (Ann) and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Guffey, her mother Gerti, and father E.B Dunn, her sister O'Neil, and her brother Bob.
Bettye was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Her love for the Lord was first in her life and she instilled that love in her grandchildren. She was the Women's Bowling Association president, which is fitting since most of her life was spent traveling the country to bowl or teaching her loved ones how to pick up that 7-10 split.
If you couldn't find Bettye and Al at the bowling alley, you could find them watching the Jazz game with just as much enthusiasm as they had for life. Jerry Sloan had nothing on Bettye and everyone knew it. She was not only the Jazz's biggest fan and supporter but for her grandkids also. She could be found on the sideline cheering "rock and fire" at numerous softball games or yelling "Get Him Get Him" for the football games.
Bettye was the sweetest person who would give you a hug or give you that encouraging word at just the right time. She was a great cook and baker and made sure you never left hungry. She loved baking so much that she started working on her entries for the county fair long before the competition new what hit em'.
The most important thing to Bettye was her family and her faith. Her love and compassion will be greatly missed but not forgotten.
