Mary was the daughter of Katherine Long Young's first marriage, and a stepdaughter to Kathryn's second husband, Charles A. Young.
In the Young family, Kathryn was known as "Connie" and Charles was known as "Jack." Teen-aged Mary is included in Young family group photos, taken before 1937.
Mary is not mentioned in the obituaries of either Katherine or Charles. The name of Kathryn's first husband also is not included.
The 1940 census showing Mary in the household of Charles and Kathryn called her Mary Swain.
The 1930 census shows Mary in the 2090 W. 30th St., Los Angeles CA home of Charles Young and Constance Young, listing her as stepdaughter. Also in the home: Kathryn's brother Bernard H. Long, his wife Marjorie and their daughter Elizabeth.
Behner was the married name of Mary, who had three children, Heather, Mike and one other, according to Young family. According to California records, she married in 1942 to Herbert Chauncey Behner (20 Nov. 1920-4 Feb. 1987). One child from that marriage is Herbert Chauncey "Mike" Behner III Memorial# 72469209 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. He also has another memorial at # 40293807.
Mary's husband Herbert Chauncey Behner remarried after Mary's death to Helen T. Mathewson or Markson on 4 Nov. 1972.
