Mary Louisa was one of 7 children born to John Duce & Florence Hammons Walker who lived to maturity. She was born in Missouri and moved with her family to Texas in the early 1900s. She had three brothers and three sisters:

Annie Mae Walker Vaughn (1901-1963)
Clarence Odell Walker (1903-1957)
Liller Estelle Walker Conner (1905-1988)
Florence ellen Walker (1914-1972)
In addition, Mary Louisa's mother had given birth to two children who did not survive.
On December 24, 1916, at age 21, she married John C. Bell. They had three children: Mildred Elizabeth Bell, born in November 1917 or 1918, Reba Irene Bell born November 10, 1919, and Mary Louise Bell born November 2, 1921.
Mary Louisa died on January 30, 1922 at the age of 27. According to her daughter Reba, Mary Louisa went to her mother's funeral in November 1921. It was cold and rainy. Mary Louisa had recently given birth to her youngest daughter. She got pneumonia and died as a result of it some weeks later.
