Military Rites For Lt. Allen To Be Thursday
Full military funeral services for Second Lt. Jarvis L. Allen, 522 Main street, who was killed in action in France while crossing the Rhine on March 15, 1945, will be held at 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Brown-Dawson funeral home, 330 Pershing avenue, and at the Church of God, Pleasant and Woodlawn avenues, at 2 o'clock. Rev. W. A. Crim, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery. Friends may call after 5 o'clock Wendesday afternoon at the funeral home. Lieutenatn Allen was born in Garrand, Ky., December 15, 1919. He came to Hamilton with his family in 1924. Before enlisting in the army he was employed for one year as a ticket agent in teh Boeing bus terminal, Houston, Tex., and prior to that time was employed by the McGreevy Dairy in Hamilton for two years. He was a member of the First Church of God. He attended Polk grade school and Fairfield High school. Enlisting in the army in April, 1943, he received training in the Officers' Candidate school at Fort Benning, Ga., where he was commissioned on December 27, 1944. The body will arrive in Hamilton, Wednesday with his brother, Lt. Paul Allen, who has been in the army 14 years, as military escort. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Allen, Garrard, Ky.; two brothers, Steve Allen, Hamilton, Lt. Paul Allen, Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Mrs. Shirley Guy, Hamilton, Mrs. Edwin Upshawn, Anderson, Ind.
