"James H. Barnby 1929 - 2005

NOEL, Mo. - James Harry "Jim" Barnby, 76, Noel, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at National Health Care Center, Joplin, Mo.

He was born Sept. 1, 1929, in Humboldt, the son of Harry Fred and Margaret Veronica Hillmes Barnby. When he was 11, the family moved to Noel.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, after which he managed several apartment complexes.
He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Noel, where he served as hospitality minister. He devoted most of his life to taking care of his mother.

Survivors include a brother, John P. Barnby, Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Ann Mueller, Odessa, Texas, and Elisabeth Bell, Kansas City; and 29 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Shultz.

Funeral Mass was today at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church led by Fr. Jaroslaw Skrzypek. Burial was in Noel Cemetery with military honors.

Ozark Funeral Home, Noel, Mo., is in charge of arrangements."
