William H. Helmly, Jr. - BLUFFTON, SC - William H. Helmly, Jr., age 77, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital after a massive heart attack. He was a native of Savannah and previously lived in Liberty County for 40 years, and the past five years in Bluffton. He retired as an electrical contractor, and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Helmly; three daughters Sharon Smith of St. Simons Island, Patty Howze of Bluffton and Rachel Sanford of Midway; one sister Carolyn Love of Glennville; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a special companion Duke, his toy poodle. Visitation will be 7-9:00 pm Monday, April 14, 2008 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Brenda Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Oglethorpe Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Hammond, Bert Hammond, Adam Ormsbee, Butch Howze, Billy Helmly, Robert Helmly.
