The following story appeared in the Franklin Democrat on Friday, December 9, 1892.
Henry Boner, age 74, died on Sunday night at his home near Whiteland. He was one of the oldest residents and was highly respected in the community. About one year ago a sore came on the great toe of his left foot since which gangrene set in baffling all medical skill in attempting to allay its progress. On Wednesday of last week Dr.Payne of this city amputated the leg below the knee, but this last resort also failed. The deceased was born in North Carolina but had been a resident of Johnson County for about 50 years. Thanks to Mark McCrady and Cathea Curry for the story.
