Willard E. "Woody" Bartlett, 91, of Arkansas City, KS died November 18, 2011, at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Unit. Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at the Memorial Lawn Chapel. Interment will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Friends may greet the family 6-8 p.m. Monday November 21, 2011, at the funeral home.
Woody was born December 12, 1919, to William L. and Viola V. (Farren) Bartlett in Walton Township, KS. He was reared and educated around the Geuda Springs-Ashton area.
Woody served his country in the Army from 1939 to 1945. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Woody married Vada Darlene Wiggins in Hutchinson, KS, on August 9, 1946. The couple made their home in Arkansas City. Woody worked as an elevator foreman for Dixie Portland until his retirement in 1982.
Survivors include his children, Denise Anderson and husband Dale of Ponca City, OK; Willette Stone of Tulsa, OK; brother, Don Barlett and wife Pearlof Chandler, AZ; grandchildren, Katelyn Dean of Tulsa, OK; Angela Fickle and husband Richard of Norwich, KS; Scott Sexton and wife Polly of Valley Center, KS; Tina Frownfelter and husband John of Broken Arrow, OK; Matthew Estep of Wichita, KS; Kendra Seward of Ponca City, OK; step granddaughters, Beverly Miner and husband Todd of Pawnee, OK; Leslie Evans and husband Tom of Ponca City, OK; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Woody was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Darlene, a daughter Connie Sexton, sisters, Bonnie and Edith, and a brother Earl.
A memorial has been established with the Harry Hynes Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.rindt-erdman.com.
