Our beloved mother Dorthia Wardean Drake started her journey to her heavenly home on March 19, 2013. Her life on earth was filled with multiple accomplishments including raising five great children whom will continue to cherish her memories and works throughout their lives. She also took into her heart and lives Richard and Phyllis Reid.
Her life was filled with love for her deceased spouse Robert Drake. Together they molded leaders and members of the community with their work at the Brethren Church Camp Myrtlewood. Dorthia helped with the growth of young women and young men as both Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader. She was awarded the Silver Beaver award for her distinguished work with the Boy Scouts. She was also a very active PTA member in her adopted community of Grants Pass, Oregon. Throughout her life she followed the tenants of her Brethren beliefs.
... Dorthia loved to travel and in her lifetime she visited family coast to coast. She was born in Shelby County, Kentucky. She married in Lincoln, Nebraska. She lived in Texas while her husband was in the military. She moved to Grants Pass in 1959 where she was with her beloved husband of over 60 years.
She is survived by her loving children Diana, Frances, Robert, Elizabeth and Benjamin along with their families. In addition she will be in the thoughts and hearts of her many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Please celebrate the great life of our mother with us. She will rest on earth with her beloved husband at the Eagle Point National Cemetery as well as spend eternity with him in heaven. Together they will be with other family member whom traveled their first including her parents Ezra and Thelma Perkins as well as her sisters Goldie Nielsen and Inetta Ausherman.
Her memory and accomplishments will live on in the memories of her family and descendants. Thank you mother for all that you have given and enjoy your life in the hereafter where you can walk with your family again.
