James Arthur "Jim" Reid, 63, retired welder and transport driver, died Sunday (Feb 13, 1983) at his home, 331 Madison, after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Reid was born Feb. 24, 1919 in Barns, Miss., to Mrs. Lilla Pool Reid and the late William Arthur Reid. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II and lived in Duncan before moving to Clarksdale more than 18 years ago. He was a Baptist.
He leaves his wife, Lottie B. Gray Reid; two sons, Jerry D. Reid of Bangor, Maine and James Larry Reid of Montika, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Lilla Reid of Greenwood; three brothers, Donald Reid and Bennie C. Reid, both of Greenwood, and Larkin "Larry" Reid of Grenada; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at National Funeral Chapel with burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The Rev. W. F. Appleby, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate.
