Rose Elsea Aaberg, 79, of the Hulett/Devil's Tower area in Wyoming, passed away Tuesday, August 22, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Rose was born February 27, 1927 in Hot Springs to Christian and Bertha Schoepp. She graduated in Hot Springs and worked in Dites Drug Store for several years scooping ice cream. Rose married Elvin T. Aaberg on September 4, 1949 in Hot Springs. Elvin worked for the National Park Service and they later moved to Devil's Tower in 1960.

To this union were born three children; Wayne, Cathy, and Debbie. She has seven grandchildren; Brian, Jennifer, and Chelsea Aaberg, Merle and Jennifer Johnson, and Cassandra and Dylan Bush. She also has five great-grandchildren.

Rose volunteered for several years for the Devil's Tower History Association. She also volunteered on a daily basis for the Hulett Senior Citizens at the Ponderosa Café for many years.

Rose loved her family and her extended family very much. She also enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She kept in close contact with all of her family and friends, either calling them often or writing them letters.

She remained self sufficient and independent until the very end. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Rose is survived by her son, Wayne (Cheryl) Aaberg, Grand Junction, Colo., two daughters, Debra (Roy) Bush, Hulett, Wyo., and Cathy (Allan) Johnson, McArthur, Ohio, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one sister, Hilda Schnose, Prescott, Ariz.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin T. Aaberg and her parents.

Funeral Services were held at 9:30 a.m., Friday, August 25, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Hulett with Pastor Lloyd Lemke officiating, burial followed at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

A memorial has been established to benefit the Hulett Senior Citizens.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel of Sundance, Wyo.
