Hugo Adalbert Hermann Ackmann of Clinton, Washington, passed away October 21, 2008 at the age of 86.
He was born February 20, 1922 in Hagen-Leeste, in northwest Germany. He was raised in Germany and served in the German Navy. He became a baker, pastry chef, and store owner.
Hugo immigrated to the USA in 1952 with his wife, Sigrid, and small daughter, Reinhilde. They made their home in Seattle, Washington. Hugo went on to own and operate a bakery in Seattle's Green Lake district, and later managed bakeries in Thriftway and Albertson stores, and invested his money in real estate.
Hugo was a man who knew the value of hard work and high standards. Had a passion for life, and was wise, honorable, and a loving Grandfather whom put his family first. He enjoyed telling stories, and was a very charismatic story teller about his life.
His passions where gardening, fishing, and animals (dogs). Hugo was an excellent teacher, whom stressed the value of an education, history, finances, and wanted everyone to be successful. Hugo also loved swimming and soccer. He made a difference in many people's lives, and he will be greatly missed.
Hugo is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sigrid, daughter Reinhilde (Hilde) (Dunham) Hibden and her husband Russell Hibdon, daughter Karola (Searight) Steenmeyer and her husband Tom Steenmeyer, daughter Marian Hart and her husband Robert Hart, grandchildren; Flint Dunham and his wife Elizabeth, Luke Dunham, Jack D. Searight, Ulysess Steenmeyer, Tyler Hart, and Sabrina Hart. Great Grandchildren; Logan and Tabitha Dunham, and Brother Wolfgang Ackman and his spouse.
