Visitation for Thomas Benson LaMore, 87, a lifelong resident of rural Grant Park, will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hub Funeral Chapel in Grant Park, and from 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Grant Park, until the 10:30 a.m. funeral services. Pastor Doug Zimmerman will officiate.
Burial will be in Heusing Cemetery, Grant Park. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Chicago Chapter, 8430 W. Bryn Mawr Suite 800, Chicago, IL 60631. He died Sunday (July 15, 2012) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Mr. LaMore was a retired farmer. He was born Dec. 4, 1924, in rural Grant Park, the son of Noah and Beulah Nichols LaMore. His wife, the former Mildred May Heldt, whom he married June 4, 1944, at St. John's United Church of Christ in rural Beecher, preceded him in death Feb. 7, 2008. He served on the Heusing Cemetery Board and was active on the Whitaker Elevator Board. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Grant Park.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Suellen LaMore, of Staunton, Russell and Darby LaMore, of Bradley, and Gary and Gina LaMore, of Kankakee; two daughters and one son-in-law, Debbie and David Fortin, of Manteno, and Kathy McVey, of Metamora; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Hamann, of rural Grant Park; and three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Carpenter, of Chicago Heights, Beatrice LaMore, of Grant Park, and Viola Heldt, of Beecher.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Danny LaMore who died at birth; and one brother, Norman LaMore.
