She was the daughter of Carl Elmo Wilson of Kentucky and Edith Emma McLeod of Nebraska, who second married to a Hopper. Edith apparently eventually re-united with her first husband at Long Beach, California. Peggy's brother was Willard Warren Wilson, and they were both born at Seattle, Washington.
She entered flight training on 01 November 1943 at Avenger Field, Sweetwater, Texas and graduated on 23 May 1944. She was an engineering test pilot stationed at Marana Army Air Base, Arizona.
She survived a landing accident 16 February 1944 at Avenger Field, Sweetwater, Texas in AT-6 #42-48939.
She was killed test flying BT-13 #40-972 Valiant aircraft near Marana Army Air Field, Arizona due to an engine fire.
