Uncle Roy was the 6th of 9 children born to Scott and Delia Ann Box Alcorn who married on June 3, 1911.

His paternal grandparents were:
Lafayette Alcorn and Alice (Love) Alcorn

His maternal grandparents were:
Maston "Matthew" Wiley Box and
Margaret Elizabeth "Maggie" (Seats) Box

Roy married Virgie Lois Carter on October 23, 1953 and had 5 children: 3 sons and 2 daughters. He was Chairman of the Education Department at George Peabody College for Teachers (now known as the Peabody College of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt University) in Nashville, TN when an auto accident in 1973 took his life.
