Lafayette (my paternal great-grandfather) was the first-born child of Harmon Alcorn and Elvira Smith Alcorn who married on June 8, 1856 in Dekalb Co., TN. The couple moved to MO where Lafayette was born in 1858.
On February 3, 1885 he married Alice Louisiana Love in Iron Co., MO. They had 7 children: Lola (Alcorn) Buntin; Roy Anvil; Clyde S., Scott Lee (my grandfather); Ora; Myrtle & Loven (both Myrtle & Loven died as either newborns or infants before the family moved to Ellsinore, Carter Co., MO).
In 1908, Lafayette served in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Carter Co., MO.
