SCHENEVUS Alvin D. Borst, 76, of 75 Main St., Schenevus, died on arrival at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown Sunday, July 5, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at the Heller Funeral Home, Schenevus, with the Rev. Kenneth Tapper, pastor of the First Baptist Church, and the Rev. Fred. E. Rivenburg, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Schenevus, officiating. Burial will follow in Schenevus Cemetery. He was born July 23, 1893, in Esperance, a son of Hiram and Alice (Coons) Borst. He married Katherine West in Schenevus in 1915. Mr. Borst worked for many years in the Borden's plant in and for many years was the head custodian of the Andrew S. Draper School, Schenevus. He has lived in Schenevus for the past 55 years, prior to that, he was a resident of Worcester. He was the second oldest living member of the C.H. Graham Hose Co., Schenevus, which he joined in Sept. 1917. He was also a member of the Schenevus Valley Grange and the First Baptist Church. Mr. Borst is survived by his wife, Katherine; one son, Burton Borst of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Dora) Corsall, of three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Sweeney of Johnstown, Mrs. Margaret Vroman of Oneonta and Mrs. Mary Currerio of Coopers Plains; two grandchildren, Miss Bernlce Corsall of Cobleskill and Burton L. Borst of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, July 7, during the afternoon and evening.
