James Bremner (abt 1800 - 16 October 1872) was a Scottish born mason and the first Gatekeeper of the Dobbs Ferry section of the Old Croton Aqueduct, the 41-mile long, monumental public works project which brought fresh water to the rapidly growing New York City in the mid-1800s.

He lived in the Keeper's House on Walnut Street in Dobbs Ferry, which is being turned into a Visitor's and Education Cnter by the Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct.
