Orphaned at a young age; Sarah was befriended by William W & Rebecca Baldwin of Mississippi. William & Rebecca adopted Sarah before 1850. In 1850 Sarah was residing with her new found family in Oktibbeha, Oktibbeha County, Mississippi. William, Rebecca, Sarah, Fannie & family moved to Morgan County, Illinois about 1860. I believe her birth Surname was Brown.
Sarah & Andrew met working for Robert Reeves in the summer of 1868 per an affidavit. His farm was 15 miles just East of Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois on the big prairie. They knew each other less than a year & married March of 1869; moving immediately to Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana in April of 1869 appearing at the doorstep of Andrew's cousin Newton Dunbar's home announcing they were newlyweds per 1922 affidavits. This is not the same story that has been told for generations.
Andrew & Sarah lived in a two story red brick home along the Wabash River at 655 North Water Street in Terre Haute with their children always close by. They had 8 children; with 1 dying at infancy.
