SPRINGFIELD - Virginia Frances Cornacchia of Springfield died August 24 of cancer. She was 69.
Cornacchia was born August 26, 1928, in Westfir to Frank and Bertha Pyburn Long. She married Pete Cornacchia. He died in 1988.
A lifelong resident of the Springfield area, she worked in retail sales for Kaufman's Eugene Fashion Center. She also was a row boss at Cupp's strawberry and bean fields. Prior to her retirement, she was the assistant manager for Emerald Lanes in Eugene for 15 years.
Cornacchia enjoyed her home and was an excellent gardener. She was also an avid golfer and outdoor enthusiast.
Survivors include four daughters, Pat Friesendahl of Oakridge, Sheryl Cornacchia of Anchorage, Carol Cogburn of Springfield and Camille Cornachia of Seattle; two sons Harry Parks of Oregon City and Peter Cornacchia of Springfield; a brother, Jim Cunningham of Coos Bay; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Private services will be held. Buell Chapel in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
