Maria H. Fernandez, 89; died Monday of respiratory failure in Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 700 Foulk Road, Brandywine Hundred.

(Brandywine Hundred is the name of an unincorporated subdivision of New Castle County Delaware.)

Mrs. Fernandez was a homemaker.

Her husband Manuel died in 1969.

She is survived by a daughter, Georgina Mendez of Wilmington; a granddaughter, two grandsons, and four great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30am Wednesday in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Ninth and DuPont streets.
There will be no viewing.

Burial will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Lancaster Avenue.

Manuel came to Cuba when he was engaged to be married.

After coming to Havana, Cuba he went back to Spain to be married
