East Troy News, November 25, 1908, page 8. (provided to me by Faye Murdock Brugge) Samuel Murdock, a former resident and old settler of this town, died at his home in Elkhorn November 20, 1908. Mr. Murdock was born in County Down, Ireland, September 11, 1827, and came to the town of Troy in 1849 and settled on the farm now owned by J. Morrow. After residing there a number of years he bought what was called the Perry farm at the Corners and improved and resided there until ten years ago when he moved to Elkhorn. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, three sons and one daughter, also two sisters, Mrs. M. Kain of Spokane, Washington, Mrs. Agnes Lackey of Troy Center, together with other relatives and friends, all of whom have the sympathy of this community. The funeral will be held at the church Monday morning, Rev. J.L. Sizer of Elkhorn officiating, burial at Evergreen cemetery on the Quarterline.
