Joseph Norbert Carner, 91, passed away September 22, 2010. He was born in East Chicago, IN on August 31, 1919 and lived in Jacksonville, FL since 2004. He served in WWII from 1942-45 in Ground Control Radar Operations in the Army Signal Corps, Co. B, 574th Signal Battalion ('Night Fighters') in the South Pacific. After receiving degrees from the Art Institute of Chicago - Goodman Memorial Theatre and Yale University, Mr. Carner pursued a career in professional theatre specializing in Lighting and Set and Scene Design. Later in his career, he held a position with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock as Assistant Professor for Theatre Production and Lighting Design. He was also the founding Director of the Multimedia Services Center for the campus. Mr. Carner is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Margaret Davies Carner. He is survived by his twin daughters, Margaret Carner and Frances Carner and grandchildren, Elizabeth Rodrigue and Will Rodrigue. A Graveside Service will be held at Hollywood Cemetery in Hot Springs, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Roosevelt L. Thompson Scholarship Fund, a 4-year renewable scholarship awarded each year to a college-bound senior from Little Rock Central High School. c/o The Arkansas Community Foundation (ARCF), 1400 W. Gravesite Details

Cremains were interred and services held at Hollywood Cemetery where wife and family were buried. Per his wishes, some of his cremains were interred at Elmwood Cemetery (Hammond, Lake, Indiana) where his parents and siblings are buried.
