Leslie John Kahler, 82, of St. Paul, Minn., died March 1 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Hospice Home in St. Paul.
He was born Feb. 27, 1917, in Sutton, Neb., and had lived in St. Paul for one year with prior residence in Cheyenne.
Kahler worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, first in the freight department in Grand Island, Neb., and then as a carman in Cheyenne since 1956. He retired in 1977.
Kahler is survived by two sons, Les Kahler Jr. of Merriam, Kan., and Roger Kahler (son of Margaret and Leslie) of St. Paul; daughters, Virginia Farrell (daughter of Vera and Leslie) of Blue Ridge, Texas, and Lynette Fowlston (daughter of Vera and Leslie); two stepdaughters, Gena Wilcox and Bonnie Hauxhurst, both of Portland, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three wives, Vera Ann (Hurlburt) Kahler, Margaret Kahler and Fern Kahler; a son, John Richard Kahler (son of Vera and Leslie)(1948-1990); and his parents, John and Rose Kahler.
