Fanny Myrtle Alsup m. James Wilson Carothers (12/19/1888). They had 4 daughters: Reba (Rippy), Jimmie (Gray), Ludie Mae (Rodgers) and Fannie Myrtle (Wells). Died from spinal meningitis.
"The home of Mr. J. W. Carothers, who lives a few miles northeast of Caledonia, was made sad last Sunday afternoon by the death of his tender and loving wife. Mrs. Carothers had been sick about eight days with brain fever, and while her death was not altogether unexpected, the announcement caused a gloom of sorrow and sadness to hover over the entire community. A particularly sad feature of her death was the fact that she left behind four pretty little girls, the youngest being less than three months old, to the care of their grief-stricken father. But God in His noble providence will help that father to provide some way by which these dear little ones may be taken care of.
Mrs. Carothers was a lady of noble Christian character. She was a devoted wife, a fond, tender and loving mother, and was esteemed by all who knew her. It is a consoling thought to those she left behind to know that she was ready for her Master's call.
The funeral took place and the remains were interred at 10 o'clock Monday morning at the Egger grave yard, and many sorrowing friends followed to pay their last tribute. To the bereaved ones the Commercial extends heartfelt sympathy in this dark hour."
Her 4 year old daughter (Jimmie) grieved over the loss of her mother to the day she passed away at age 86.
