David Lyle "Boogie" Bogart, 84, of 1911 Jobs Run Road, Jersey Shore, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, in the Geisinger Medical Center.

Born May 17, 1926, in Williamsport, he was the son of Wesley and Beatrice Bogart. "Boogie" was preceded in death by his wife, the former Georganna E. Entz, Aug. 1, 1999. They were united in marriage Jan. 28, 1948.

During World War II, he served his country in the U.S. Navy from Feb. 15, 1944 until he was honorably discharged April 16, 1946. He served on the Naval Base at Pearl Harbor.

David was a life member, past commander and president of V.F.W. Post No. 5859 and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 36 of Jersey Shore. David was a retired construction worker and was a member of the Lather and Carpenteres Union. His greatest joy, during the past several years, was socializing with his friends, Hooten Nanny Dancing and spending quality time with his great-great-grandsons Anthony, Gordon Nile and Auron Michael.

Surviving is a son, George, and his wife, Carol; a daughter, Judith A., and her husband, Gordon, with whom he resided for the past 10 years; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jack Bogart, Sam Bogart, Carl Bogart and Ronald Rupert; three sisters, Arlene Moffitt, Lois Hair and Elma Wells.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Leon Bogart, Berry Bogart and Charles Rupert; two sisters, Doris Rodman and Joyce Young.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until time of services in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Green Lawn Memorial Park with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard. Rev. Richard Jones will officiate. Family will provide flowers and suggest memorial contributions be made in his name to the Jersey Shore Honor Guard, 421 Wilson St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740.
