Genevieve E. "Jenny" Leech
Genevieve "Jenny" E. Leech, 75, of 1008 Arthur Road, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born Jan. 5, 1934, in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Melvin L. and Hazel E. (Newcomer) Young. In 1952 she married George E. Leech, who predeceased her in 1991.
Jenny attended Montgomery High School.
She later went to work for the former Montgomery Mills, and continued her working career at The Basket Restaurant, formerly located in Allenwood, the former Widmann's Drug Store in Watsontown, and the former Mother Care Store in the Lycoming Mall. Jenny retired from Sears in the Lycoming Mall where she worked as a clerk, and then worked part-time for Scot's in Montoursville.
She was a member of the Montoursville Lioness Club and the Bower-Decker Post 251 American Legion Auxiliary, Montgomery.
Jenny enjoyed dancing and traveling, but especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, George E. II and Robin Leech of Watsontown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail L. and Kenneth Hampe of Muncy and Glenda E. and Daniel Papke of Dushore; four brothers and one sister-in-law, Albert L. and Carol Young of South Williamsport, Robert D. Young of Hershey, Roland L. Young of Tallahassee, Fla., and Larry E. Young of Montgomery; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon K. and Ron Bennett of Dewart, Sandra L. and Larry Mitstifer of Milton and Connie L. and Skip Meyers of Bloomsburg; her longtime companion, Wayne Summers; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one son, Gordon Leech; an infant grandson; two brothers, Charles D. Young and Earl D. Young; and one sister, Margaret "Peg" Miller.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Grenoble Funeral Home, Muncy. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran "Brick" Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, with Pastor Zachary Labagh officiating.
Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
