A professed member of the Oblate of St. Francis de Sales for 57 years, died on September 25, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE, from complications of cardiac and renal failure. He was 75.

"Fr. Drupieski was a loyal man, faithful to caring for people in need," Fr. James Greenfield, OSFS, provincial said. "Among our community, he was known for his devotion to caring for his infirm parents and assisting the Delaware River and Bay Authority Police Department, especially with people in distress. His care for others will be missed."

Fr. Drupieski, son of the late Anna and Alexander Drupieski, was born in Wilmington in 1935. He attended St. Elizabeth Parish School and graduated from Salesianum School in 1953. Following graduation from Salesianum, young Stanley entered the Oblate Novitiate and made his first profession of vows in 1954 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1964 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Wilmington, DE. He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in English from Niagara University in New York. Father completed his theological studies for ordination at DeSales Hall, Hyattsville, MD.

After ordination, Fr. Drupieski ministered as a teacher at Salesianum School for twelve years, 1966-1978, in addition to schools in Pennsylvania. He has also served as chaplain at Gander Hill Prison in Wilmington.

In 1978, Fr. Drupieski began his work with the Diocese of Wilmington as a judge of the Diocesan Marriage Tribunal, where he served for more than 30 years.

Fr. Drupieski became the Catholic Chaplain for the Delaware River and Bay Authority Police Department in 1997, a ministry he remain committed to until the time of his death.

Father is survived by his Oblate religious community.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 28, at 7:30 pm, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Ninth and DuPont Streets, Wilmington, DE. Beginning at 5:30 pm, the viewing will precede the Mass. Interment will occur at the Oblate Cemetery on Thursday, September 29, at noon, Childs, MD.
