John R. Barklow served as a Private in the 1866th Service Command Unit, United States Army during World War II.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 7, 1942 at Baltimore, Maryland.
He was originally from the State of Maryland.
His last place of residence was in Fortescue, New Jersey.
He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on May 28, 1971.
John R. Barklow of Fortescue, N.J., formerly of Hagerstown, died at the Millville, N.J. Hospital Tuesday morning.
Born in Washington County, he was the son of Charles E. and Ethel Clark Barklow. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, James R. Barklow and William R. Barklow, both of Hagerstown; one step-son, Donald Palmer of Camden, N.J.; one sister, Mrs. Helen Stuart of San Jacinto, Calif.; three brothers, Charles A. Barklow of Hagerstown, James H. Barklow of Palm Springs, Calif., and Robert E. Barklow of Frederick.
The Coffman Funeral Home in Hagerstown will announce funeral arrangements later.
