In Loving Memory of Marion Catherine (Lord) Thomas, May 29, 1901 - March 4, 1991

Marion Catherine (Lord) Thomas was born in Denver, Colorado on May 29, 1901. She was the daughter of Ralph Francis (Frank) Lord and Sophie Mary (Rasmussen) Lord.

When Marion was about 5 years of age, the family moved to a homestead east of Kiowa, Colorado, where she grew up. She met and married John Thomas on October 3, 1921, in Kiowa, Colorado. They lived on a farm for several years and then moved to Littleton, Colorado. John Preceded her in death in 1985.

While the Thomas' lived on a farm, a young preacher on his way to be a missionary in Africa came to the country schoolhouse to hold a series of meetings. John and Marion agreed to attend but privately said if the preacher asked for money, they would walk out. He did not ask for money and they continued to go and when he gaave an invitation to accept Christ as Savior, they both did.

They moved to Spokane, Washington in 1943, then to Albany, Oregon in 1981. "Grandma" Thomas was a member of the Euclid Avenue Baptist Church in Spokane, and attended Riverside Baptist Church in Albany.

Survivors include a sister, Blanche Tucker, Kiowa, Colorado; two daughters, Francis Staggs, Albany, Oregon; Elsie Patterson, Spokane, Washington; a son, David Thomas, Los Alamitos, California; eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many friends.

Memorial services were held in Albany, Oregon on Wednesday March 6 at Riverside Baptist Church. Graveside services were held in Spokane, Washington at Riverside Memorial Mausoleum. She was buried in Spokane, Washington on Friday March 8 at Riverside Memorial Park.
