Sarah Catherine Rogers Durrett taught school in Macon in a one room school house. She owned and directed the first private school in Ft. Hawkins, GA.
She was in the first graduating class of Wesleyan College, and when she died, she was the oldest living graduate of Wesleyan College.
"Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Catherine Rogers Durrett, widow of D. M. Durrett, will be held today at 6 p.m. from the Huhard-Connally Chapel, Rev. Mortiner Gloerver officiating. Interment Riverside cemetery. For further information phone 1427." Macon Telegraph May/18/1934
One family source said that Sarah Catherine Rogers' given middle name was Clementine but that she did not like it and changed it to Catherine.
