Fred Jackson Headrick Sr., 90, died at his Signal Mountain, TN home on Saturday, July 3, 2010.
He was a World War II veteran and served in the ETO, 3rd Armored Division, 1st Army. He received the Purple Heart and three Battle Stars.
Fred devoted many of his retirement years serving as a volunteer at the Medal of Honor Museum.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Barbara, "Bobbie," sisters, Virginia Vernon, Dora Bell, brothers Robert Headrick, Glen Headrick and Mack Hilderbrand.
His survivors include Fred Jackson Headrick Jr. and wife, Faye Cobb Headrick, of Signal Mountain; granddaughters, Lisa Headrick Griffin, (Brian) of Chattanooga; Barbara Jean Headrick, also of Signal Mountain; great-granddaughter, Alayna Griffiin, and several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Signal Crest United Methodist Church and Parks Fellowship Sunday School Class.
It was Fred's wish that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Medal Of Honor Museum of Military History, P.O. Box 11467, Chattanooga, Tn. 37401-2467.
Graveside services will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2010.
Arrangements are by Covenant Funeral & Cremation Service, Crox family owned and operated.
